Every year, hundreds of birds are surrendered or rehomed for various reasons. Sadly, some birds are rescued from neglectful, abusive, or indifferent environments. These unwanted birds are frequently passed from home to home, abandoned, surrendered to shelters, or even euthanized. Others end up in breeding facilities, confined to overcrowded, barren cages and forced to breed for profit.
The lucky ones, however, find their way to shelters or sanctuaries. These organizations carefully screen adopters, educate them on proper care, and provide birds with opportunities to live fulfilling lives—either with new families or alongside other birds in a sanctuary setting. Unfortunately, these facilities are often at capacity and struggle to meet the growing need.
How Can You Help?
Don’t Breed. Don’t Buy. Adopt.
If you’re ready to make the lifelong commitment that bird ownership requires, consider adopting from a rescue or shelter. You can also help by spreading awareness about bird overpopulation, the importance of adoption, and the challenges these birds face. Many people are unaware of just how many birds are in desperate need of loving homes.
Our Adoption Process
2) Application Review: We will review your application and may reach out for more information. Please note that we reserve the right to deny any application to ensure the safety and well-being of our birds.
3) Initial Contact: If your questionnaire is approved, a team member will contact you to discuss next steps.
4) Meet the Birds: A visit to the rescue will be scheduled so you can meet the bird(s) you’re interested in adopting.
5) Home and Reference Checks: Virtual or in-person home visits, along with reference checks, will be conducted.
6) Additional Visits: Multiple visits with your potential new companion(s) will be required to ensure compatibility.
7) Adoption Day: Once all requirements are met, your new feathered family member can go home! On adoption day, the adoption paperwork and fee will be completed.
Thank you for considering adoption and making a difference in the life of a bird in need!
