Monika Sangar: Parrot Rescuer, Author, and Avian Nutrition Specialist

About Monika Sangar

Monika Sangar is a dedicated parrot rescuer, avian nutrition specialist, bird toy designer, and author with over 14 years of hands-on experience caring for companion parrots. As co-founder of Prego Dalliance Sanctuary (PDS Nonprofit), Monika has rescued, rehabilitated, and provided lifelong care for dozens of parrots, many of whom were surrendered, neglected, or medically challenged. Her work is inspired by Prego, an Eclectus parrot whose memory motivated her to create a safe, enriching sanctuary for birds in need.

At PDS Nonprofit, Monika combines her molecular biology background with practical parrot care expertise to develop nutritious diets, enrichment strategies, and safe toys that promote both mental and physical well-being for rescued birds. Her sanctuary emphasizes individualized care, veterinary oversight, and enrichment programs that allow parrots to thrive in a safe, loving environment.

Monika is also the author of “The Science of Avian Nutrition” (2025), a comprehensive guide to feeding parrots fresh, nutrient-rich meals. Her work includes a wide range of articles and guides on parrot care, diet, enrichment, and DIY bird toys, helping current and future parrot owners provide the best possible care for their feathered companions.

Through her writing and hands-on rescue work, Monika inspires others to understand parrots’ unique needs, advocate for proper care, and contribute to the welfare of birds. Every story, article, and product she shares reflects her lifelong commitment to rescuing, rehabilitating, and enriching the lives of parrots.
